Description   Social/political analysis of contemporary economic issues, including population, inflation, unemployment, energy, and other policy issues. (Serves as General Education elective for students whose program does not require ECO 221 and ECO 222.)

Course Goals  
1. Identify and explain the major theories that influence the United States Economic System.
  • Identify, explain and discuss major theories that influence the United States economic system.
2. Identify special interest actions and groups that exert everyday influence on society and the economic system.
  • Evaluate with reasons the special interest groups and actions that exert influence on society and an economic system.
3. Define current social/political issues in terms of economic concepts and their impact.
  • Describe verbally and with written words production possibilities curve, gross domestic product, circular flow, business and economic cycle and other related economic definitions and terms.
4. Comprehend the relationship of international trade and its impact on both developed countries and developing countries.
  • Analyze in discussion groups, either verbally or with written word, the relationship that countries have with each other in regards to world trade and the development and expansion of their economic systems.
