Description   Co-op work experience in parks and recreation career field at industry location. Work site for full-time (40 hours) work for 10 weeks selected by the student with assistance from Ag Co-op instructor. Oral and written reports of the experience required.

Course Goals  
1. Demonstrate technical work skills found in the industry.
  • Apply technical knowledge learned in the classroom during co-op placement.
  • Strengthen technical skills by using equipment found in the work place.
  • Perform a variety of skills by rotating work assignments.
  • Improve work skills during the co-op experience
2. Strengthen problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Resolving real world problems within a specified time frame.
  • Collect and analyze information to aid in problem solving.
  • Develop a list of possible alternative solutions, and then select the best solution for the situation.
3. Exhibit professional attitudes and skills in the work environment.
  • Apply customer service skills in an appropriate manner.
  • Develop good working relationships with supervisors, peers and customers.
  • Exhibit appropriate punctuality and attendance skills.
4. Develop job-related objectives to achieve during the placement.
  • Develop three specific job related objectives to advance skill level.
  • Report the results and recommendations of the studentÆs job placement experience.
  • Communicate with the instructor and supervisor to maximize the co-op experience.
